Noise Impact Assessment
Noise Impact Assessments evaluate the potential disruption from developments, often required by authorities to protect nearby communities and businesses. They predict noise effects, aiding clients in mitigating issues, saving time and costs. Although often associated with industrial activities, equipment for climate control within the building can also be a source of noise pollution.
Sound Insulation Design
Approved Document E of the UK building regulations sets soundproofing requirements for dwellings, including flats, houses, student accommodations, and hotels. It applies to new builds, conversions, and extensions. Part E covers noise from adjoining buildings (E1) and sound transmission within dwellings (E2). Properties must meet sound standards via testing, with a compliance report issued to Building Control.

Noise from construction activities is one of the main sources of disruption to the local community. For development projects a risk assessment and strategy to manage the identified risks should be included in the noise impact report submitted with planning applications.
