Analysis of Daylight and Sunlight Impact of the proposed construction of a rear extension to a residential property
Residential rear extension
The residents of a property in the Borough of Camden proposed to build a rear extension to their property.
They submitted a planning application and the local planning officer asked for a daylight and sunlight report. The aim of the report should be to demonstrate that the neigbouring properties were not adversely affected. Planning for Sustainability provided the analysis and associated report.
The planning application was successful.
Main concerns
The primary concern was the effect of the two storey extension on the available daylight and sunlight at the neigbouring properties.
The following parameters were analysed:
- Sunlight impact on neigbouring properties (Annual Probable Sunlight Hours)
- Daylight effect on neighbouring properties (Vertical Sky Component)
